Aren't you glad you read this blog and were ahead on the Kid Cudi vibe? We kind of liked Kid Cudi when he was a poorly kept Fool's Gold secret, but we're happy that Kanye is taking him for a ride into the mainstream. He's earned it. Anyways, here's the track called Anyway.
This week I spent a lot of time at work digging through streaming mixtapes for something fresh. I ended up on the Mad Decent blog listening to The Heatwave on Kiss and instead I found some older Outkast track that seems to be very under hyped and under appreciated. Don't worry I also have something new, but sorry nothing blue. Of course, its a Kanye West track. He doesn't seem to be able to resist leaking a new song every week. This week's Monday Re up marks the 100th post in this blog's history and as a result ya'll are being treated to an extra large portion of songs to keep your toes tapping and fingers snapping throughout the week.
First of I came across this Lykke Li video of her performing Dance Dance Dance with none other than Bon Iver. Watch her shake her accessories about and flail around in the most memorizing of ways. The footage is shot in a kind of purposefully erratic way which for whatever reason ends up working wonderfully.
Also this week we've got the best Love Lockdown remix of the hundreds that surfaced from Kanye's stem experiment and an old (but great) kick push remix that I've been listening to lately. Enjoy the week.
I haven't addressed this Kanye West situation yet. Mostly due to the astonishing proliferation of Love Lockdown and in part because I wasn't sure how I felt about it. I'm still not sure, but this new single from the upcoming 808's and Heartbreak has gotten me a little more comfortable with this auto tune direction Kanye seems to be heading down. It seems to me the meticulous workings of a man with a plan. He seems set on diversifying out of the straight hip hop genre, and so far it's working. I guess?

REMIX ALBUMS REMIX ALBUMS REMIX ALBUMS. yes i'm talking Boys Noize, I'm talking Oi Oi Oi remixed which is dropping march 25 and will without a doubt be as hot as the album itself. The last remix vinyl i bought was Bloc Party's Silent Alarm remixed and since then the practice has become pretty popular. Reason to be even more anticipatory of the album is that on the album will be a remix of Oh! by Montreal's A-Trak. And if that's still not enough, we have that very remix here for you to enjoy at your leisure.
Kanye West is going on a super mega tour more officially known as the Glow in the Dark tour with none other than fellow Chicagoan Lupe Fiasco as well as Rihanna and N.E.R.D.
The tour hits our humble city - Montreal - on May 20th and will be held at the Bell Center - big suprise - and will likely be overpriced.
Remember that song Flashing Lights? Remember the original? Me neither. But to remind you this intriguing and ridiculous video featuring a buxom strumpet burning her clothes and presumably killing Kanye West and burying him.

Add NYC's Pase Rock to the list of hip hop MC's who are smart enough to embrace electro and use it to re-vitalize hip hop in a huge way. It's not really a question of who did it first or best - that doesn't really matter - actually its not a question at all, it's a statement.
In main mainstream Kanye West did it with stronger, but i have a feeling that he just lucked out and was smart enough to listen to A-trak on theDaft Punk idea. Obviously the song blew up and he continued to let A-trak keep him cool and get him in touch with more young sceneters - Pro Nails anybody? - and as a result he beat fiddy real good.
I'd be a real asshole if i talked to you about Hip Hop electro crossovers without mentioning Philly bangersSpank Rock and Amanda Blank.
These kids are fucking great, the song Get loose from Spank Rock & Benny Blanco'sBangers and Cash is pretty much a full testament to all the gratuitous explicit sexuality, glorification of wanton drug use and chauvinistic behaviour thathip hop used to be infamous for.
I find their attitude so ridiculously over the top that no one should seriously be offended by this song/video. That being said; It's a fine line i wouldn't expect most to appreciate, especially in the face of lyrics like the eternal;
All that money make a Bitch go dumb Coke on the tip make a Bitch go numb
Word on the streets - of the internet - is that both Amanda Blank and N.E.R.D. are working on albums which are slated to come out in the spring of this year; in the meantime here's a Spank Rock Remix of a Teki Latex - in town on the 23rd - song Disco Dance with You, featuring Amanda Blank. Also speaking of wanton drug use - N.E.R.D.'s everyone nose.
I've been in lines for a bathroom which consisted almost entirely of people going to do coke, so N.E.R.D. i feel you on that.
